As part of Mercy Week, we were delighted to welcome Sister Elizabeth to Meán Scoil Mhuire today to speak with our First Year students about the rich history and traditions of our school.
Sister Elizabeth shared the story of Catherine McAuley, her life and vision, and the establishment of the first House of Mercy on Baggot Street in 1827. She then brought the story closer to home, exploring the history of Meán Scoil Mhuire and explaining the meaning and symbolism behind our school crest.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our First Year students to learn more about the story of the school community they have recently joined. Understanding our history and Mercy tradition helps our students appreciate the values and legacy that continue to shape Meán Scoil Mhuire today.
