On Wednesday our 5th yr students were lucky enough to be part of a national livestream event exclusively for secondary students of the stage version of Katriona O’Sullivan’s autobiography ‘Poor’. Over 22,000 students joined the event online.
This play dealt with poverty, addiction and homelessness and saw Katriona overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to earn a PhD from Trinity College Dublin. It was a unique theatrical event from The Gate Theatre, that hoped to break down the financial and social barriers to theatre, coming from a shared belief that theatre and the transformative power of storytelling belongs to everyone. Thank you to Management for supporting this worthwhile event and also to our English Team for facilitating it for our students.
