Robotics Club
The Robotics Club at Meán Scoil Mhuire Longford gives students an exciting opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through hands-on learning. Students work together to design, build and programme robots using VEX IQ robotics kits while developing important skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, creativity and engineering design.
Club members work in teams to design robots capable of completing challenges in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition. Through this process, students learn how to build mechanical systems, programme motors and sensors, test their designs, and continually improve their robots through experimentation and collaboration.
The Robotics Club has proudly represented Meán Scoil Mhuire at a number of regional and national competitions. Our teams have achieved great success, winning several awards at local competitions and demonstrating excellent teamwork and innovation. Students have also competed at the VEX IQ National Finals in MTU Cork, where they were recognised with a Sportsmanship Award for their positive attitude and support for fellow competitors.
Participation in robotics helps students develop confidence, technical skills and a passion for innovation. The club encourages students to think creatively, work collaboratively and explore potential future careers in engineering, technology and computer science.
