Our 1st year team were galant runners up to a strong Portlaoise team on Thursday in the Regional ‘A’ final. The girls left the school to a fabulous guard of honour from the supporters before heading for Portlaoise. Unfortunately a slow start left us chasing the game but a phenomenal effort in the final half of the game, perhaps inspired by our vocal avatar-esque supporters, left only a couple of baskets between the teams at the end. Who knows what could have happened if we had another few minutes on the clock.
Despite the loss the girls will head to the All Ireland playoffs in May, in Limerick, as one of the top 18 teams in the country. It promises to be a great weekend for all involved. Well done to all the girls and management. Thanks to Ms Clancy for accompanying our large band of supporters who once again did the school proud in their support of the team.
