Erasmus: Barrafranca, Sicily – Day 4

Students began the day with a local sweet treat of ginger bread and cannoli gifted to them from one of the teachers of the school as a welcome.

After this, we went to the school and were fortunate to listen to a talk by novelist Ellen Stromberg, recently shortlisted for the Mare di Libri Prize in Italy, who flew from Finland to meet the Erasmus students and talk to them about her novel, ‘ We’ll Just Ride Past.
Ellen explained where her ideas for the novel came from and why her characters:Malin and Manda can resonate with all young people.

Later, we got to see the ‘Pupi Theatre’ in the Giovanni Falcone school. The students make the puppets here themselves and put on performances for children in the area.

After lunch, we went to the school’s laboratory where the Agriculture department made Ricotta from scratch for the girls to sample!
