Brehon Advisory’s advice on Refugees
Social consultant and former Meánscoil Mhuire student Shelley Deane visited the TY students on Wednesday to discuss the trials and tribulations of refugee life. Shelly Deane is the founder of Brehon Advisory, a UK based company that works to address conflict related crisis and to educate and train in conflict affected communities in the Middle East and North Africa. She spoke about the treatment, inclusion and integration of refugees. She urged us to greet, communicate and welcome refugees. She told us that a refugee’s initial three days in a country can determine how they settle in a community. We found this talk to be beneficial, insightful, educational and interesting. We are very grateful to Shelley for rescheduling her flight in order to speak with us.
Autism Awareness
TY students were privileged to collect money for the Irish Soicety of Autism last week. You may have noticed us enthusiastically selling roses, bags and reflective stickers outside Tescos and Dunnes.
Ophelia , Ophelia, Ophelia
Due to ex-hurricane Ophelia a number of activities were postponed and will be rescheduled in the coming days.
