Basketball Semi-Final Beckons

Congratulations to our Second Year basketball team who fought hard to achieve a win against Monasterevin in the Quarter Final on Thursday February 21st last. Both teams battled hard throughout, with only 2 points separating the teams at the final whistle. We look forward to the semi final. Sincere thanks to the team’s dedicated coaches Ms Hardiman and Ms Jobe.

“Go Yellow” National Fundraising Campaign Launch

A committee of four TY students have been busily preparing for the launch of an ambitious and incredibly worthwhile national fundraising campaign over the course of the last few months. The idea for the campaign which seeks to raise valuable funds for the National Maternity Hospital and Childrens’ Health Ireland came from Maria, a TY student whose twin brothers have received outstanding care from both hospitals since their premature birth. Maria, and the committee, in conjunction with fundraising representatives from NMH and CHI launched their campaign on February 26th. The “Go Yellow” campaign is asking schools and organisations around the country to join them and wear yellow on May 1st to raise funds for NMH and CHI.

The committee have compiled an activity pack for primary schools, an information pack for secondary schools, a coffee morning pamphlet for businesses and furthermore created Instagram, facebook, TikTok and X “Go Yellow” accounts. The committee have also engaged with national media in an effort to promote their campaign. The students have been supported and guided by a number of teachers and staff in order to reach this point of their campaign. Additional information on the campaign can be found on both social media and the website http//

We wish them the very best of luck and donations can be made through the website on an idonate page.

Football Success!

Our U14 football team started their campaign in the Leinster Ladies Football Competition against St Joseph’s Rochfortbridge on February 20th. The team put in a superb and impressive display coming out victorious with a final score of 4:15 - 1:11 . There were some notable and hardworking performances by a number of Meán Scoil Mhuire students. We look forward to our next fixture against Mercy Ballymahon on Monday 26th in a group decider. Thank you to their coaches, Mr Tynan and Ms Jobe.
