Welcome Back

We were delighted to welcome our students back for what will undoubtedly be a busy, exciting and demanding final term of the academic year. We wish all our students the very best of luck in their upcoming Home Economic and music practicals.

Junior All Ireland Basketball Final Beckons in Belfast

We wish our First Year Basketball team and their mentors the very best of luck as they participate in the Junior All-Ireland Finals Play off on Thursday April 18th. Thirteen students will travel to Belfast on Wednesday April 17th and participate in three games on April 18th. This is a fantastic achievement and we are incredibly proud of the team and their mentors Ms Hardiman and Ms Jobe!

Abbott TY STEM Programme

TY students Molly, Cliodhna, Aimee,Ava,Ellie and Shauna began their two week STEM program with Abbott Diagnostics on Monday, April 8th.. The girls ,along with 6 students from St.Mel’s College received a tour of Abbott to start with. The programme will afford the lucky students insight into the engineering, operations and quality departments of Abbott. This is an amazing opportunity for our TY girls and we look forward to hearing more about their placement in Abbott and presentations they will make in the coming days. Thanks to Antoinette Kenny and her team for giving the students this opportunity.

JP Mc Manus All-Ireland Scholarship 2023

Congratulations to Daniela Rana who received the JP McManus All-Ireland Scholarship Award 2023 in UL on Saturday 30th March. Daniela is currently studying English Literature with Creative Writing in UCD. An inspirational keynote address was given by Michael Dowling, President and CEO of Northwell Health, one of healthcare’s most influential voices and prominent leaders in the US and beyond. He encouraged students to never let their circumstances interfere with or limit their potential but instead to work hard enough with people in a caring way to unlock their unlimited potential to be successful.

Meeting with Minister Norma Foley

Our Go Yellow Campaign Committee were delighted to receive an invitation from Joe Flaherty, T.D. to visit the Dáil on April 17th and meet with the Minister for Education, Norma Foley. The Minister for Education will meet with the committee to learn about the campaign, the story that inspired the students and the actions taken thus far. The Go Yellow Committee consists of four TY students who are raising funds for the National Maternity Hospital and Childrens’ Health Ireland. They have raised over €4000 euro on their idonate page to date and the fundraising day will be held on May 1st. Thank you to everyone who have supported the initiative since the launch in February.
