A massive well done to a number of our transition year students, senior cycle students and their teachers who completed the requirements for the bronze GAISCE award on the 17th of April.

A number of students, along with Mr Dennigan, Mrs Glennon and Mrs McCaffrey made the trip to Lough Allen Adventure centre where they kayaked out to an island on the lake and spent the night trying to survive in the wilderness. Whilst on the island the girls set up their camp, lit a fire to keep them warm at night, cooked both dinner and breakfast on the open fire and completed various team bonding exercises on the island. When they first arrived at the centre their phones were taken form them by the camp instructors who insisted a full no mobile phone experience was the best way to experience the camping, come the end of the trip the girls admitted to not even missing their phones! The girls fully embraced the experience and even took a dip in the freezing lake whilst a glorious sunset was taking place.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience for all involved and a great time was had. Congratulations to all involved. Have a look through some of the images to get a sense of what this experience entailed! We encourage as many transition year students to get involved next year so they can also take part in the trip.
