On Thursday the 28th of April. Ms Cunningham's 5th year Agricultural Science class took a trip around Longford. Starting in Teagasc, Sean Doorley spoke to us about the important role Teagasc plays in farming around the county. Next, they moved onto Longford Veterinary Clinic where Una and Vet Karl gave us the grand tour and educated us on a vet's daily life both in the clinic and outside it. McCormack's pig farm was next up, here Alastair showed us the varied stages of pig production before we concluded by making our way to Pat Kiernan's Dairy Farm where Pat kindly imparted his 30 years of wisdom. A great day was had by all and the students thoroughly enjoyed being out of the classroom for the day and representing Mean Scoil Mhuire in the local community. A huge thanks to all who helped facilitate the day.
